Product introduction
Exploring moka coffee foam with a silicone membrane brewing structure
Bialetti Brikka is a stovetop moka pot with a silicone membrane in its flow structure to control the release of coffee, designed to form foam on the surface of the coffee. The range includes classic aluminium-colour 2-cup and 4-cup models, a Japan-exclusive matt black 2-cup model, and the matt grey 4-cup Brikka Induction for direct use on an induction hob.
Brikka follows the basic method of adding water to the lower chamber, ground coffee to the funnel basket and collecting the coffee in the upper chamber, with a dedicated flow-control structure. The foam varies with the beans, grind size, amount of coffee and heat setting. Measure the water for the model, fill the basket without tamping, and remove the pot from the heat as soon as the coffee has finished flowing.
Differences between the classic and Induction models
The classic models have an aluminium alloy body and work on open flame, electric hotplates and ceramic hobs. The 2-cup and 4-cup sizes offer different brewing quantities. The matt black 2-cup model has the same heat-source requirements as the aluminium alloy moka pot, offering a choice of appearance.
The lower chamber of Brikka Induction has a stainless steel outer layer and an aluminium alloy inner layer, allowing an induction hob to heat the base directly. It also works on open flame, electric hotplates and ceramic hobs. Its matt grey body and soft-touch handle suit those who want to retain the Brikka brewing method while using induction as their main heat source.

“Cups” is a moka-pot sizing unit and does not refer to the capacity of a standard coffee cup. The coffee volumes are approximate brewed amounts, distinct from the water added to the lower chamber, and vary with the ground coffee and grind size.
Materials, dimensions and water quantities
- Classic models: aluminium alloy body, nylon handle and knob.
- Induction model: stainless steel and aluminium alloy double-layer lower chamber, with a nylon handle and knob.
- Classic aluminium-colour 2 cups: height approx. 15.5cm; base approx. 8.6cm; reference water quantity 120ml.
- Classic aluminium-colour 4 cups: height approx. 20cm; base approx. 10.2cm; reference water quantity 170ml.
- Induction 4 cups: height approx. 16.5cm; base approx. 11.5cm; reference water quantity 170ml.
- Import type: parallel import.
For induction use, the classic models need a suitable Bialetti adapter plate. For the Induction model, check the base size against the hob's minimum detection diameter.
Use and cleaning
First use and measuring water
Before first use, rinse all components with clean water, then brew and discard three batches of coffee before drinking from the pot. Prepare the water quantity specified for your Brikka model using a measuring cup. For the matt black 2-cup model, follow the supplied instructions and measuring-cup markings.
- Measure room-temperature clean water and pour it into the lower chamber, then insert the funnel basket.
- Fill the basket with coffee ground for a moka pot without tamping, and remove any grounds from the rim.
- Hold the body to tighten the upper and lower chambers and close the lid. Heat over low to medium heat, keeping the flame within the base. On induction, use a medium setting and avoid maximum power and Boost mode.
- A small amount of coffee flows out first, followed by the characteristic Brikka release sound and foam. When the coffee has finished flowing, turn off the heat and remove the pot from the heat source, then divide the coffee and foam evenly among the cups.
Cleaning and storage
Once completely cool, unscrew the chambers and remove the basket. Hand-wash with warm water, rinse coffee residue from the filter and column, then let the components dry thoroughly and store them separately. Do not knock the basket to empty the grounds, so the funnel retains its shape.
Do not use detergent, coarse brushes or a dishwasher. Put only clean water in the lower chamber and avoid heating it empty. Do not use the handle as a lever when opening or tightening the pot.
